Lodge History - Welcome

The First Meeting of the "Masonic History Isle of Wight Group" took place at the Albany Masonic rooms, Lugley Street, Newport, Isle of Wight on 23rd April 2013 at 7pm.

The aims of the group were stated as

To encourage and sustain interest in the history of Freemasonry in general and Isle of Wight lodges in particular. * To provide mutual support and encouragement to brethren in their individual research projects.

To work as a group on specific research projects, with the aim of sharing and collating information.

To develop a webpage.

To encourage links with Grand Lodge and other Masonic history groups, supporting them in their aims and activities.

Activities to include:-

* Regular meetings to review and discuss work in hand.

* Training sessions to widen members' research skills and techniques.

* Presenting talks and lectures to lodges.

* Making group visits or inviting speakers to places/topics relevant to our history, whether in detail or to provide a wider historical background.

The group is open to all brethren who are interested in the history of their lodges, Province, or Grand Lodge and Freemasonry in general.
